Meredith, Chrapliwy Propel Women's Volleyball to 3-0 Win

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C -- Andie Meredith and Mackenzie Chrapliwy reached double figures in kills and Belmont Abbey overcame a slow start to earn a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) Conference Carolinas women's volleyball victory over Mount Olive Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Meredith hit .474 in the contest with 11 kills and two errors in 19 attempts.
  • Chrapliwy tallied 10 kills and six digs.
  • Cassidy Bonito directed the offense with 33 assists, while adding seven digs.
  • Paige Rawlins spearheaded the defense with 17 digs, her fourth straight match in double figures. while Caitlyn Faber had 12.
  • The Abbey gave up the first three points of the match and later trailed 16-6 before a furious rally. It closed to within 22-18, then scored seven straight points.
  • The Crusaders went up 3-0 in the second set and never surrendered the lead, while in the third they broke a 7-7 tie with three straight and went on to victory.
  • Belmont Abbey won for the 11th time in the last 13 matches to even its record at 11-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Belmont Abbey returns to action next Friday with a weekend of conference matches against Barton and Chowan.
