GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team put up a tough fight against Limestone in the Conference Carolinas championship match, but the Saints took the 1-0 win. The Abbey now stands at 13-4-1 on the year. Limestone is now 17-2.
How it Happened
- Defense was the story as the Crusaders forced the Saints to shoot from outside from the start. Then, after the first 10 minutes of play, The Abbey only gave up one shot for the remainder of the first half. The game was tied at zero at halftime
- Belmont Abbey only gave up five shots in the first half
- In the second, the Crusader defense gave up just one Limestone shot in the first 17 minutes. They would hold the Saints to six shots in the period
- With just under three minutes remaining Limestone scored the goal that proved to be the match winner
