Men's Cross Country Runs To Fifth At Winthrop/Adidas Invitational

The Belmont Abbey Men's Cross Country team ran to a ninth place finish out of 15 teams, and fifth place among 11 non-division I schools in today's Winthrop/Adidas Invitational on the campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Sophomore Patrick Lester jumped out to a very strong start, completing his first mile in 5:41 and led a pair of Emmanuel runners.  He finished with a time of 28:25, good for 39th, as he passed a USC Upstate runner in the closing yards just before the finish line.

Connor Buhrmeister finished next for the Crusaders with a 29:40 run, crossing the line in 56th place.  He finished just six spots ahead of teammate Thomas Eichorn, who recorded a 29:57 run, beating out a Morehouse opponent by .4 of a second.

David Iverson (30:45), Nicholas Snell (30:59), and Ryan Caulley (35:47) rounded out the field. 

The Crusaders will next run at Wingate University's Bulldog Stampede next Saturday.
