Crusaders Score a Pair at Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team traveled to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans Wednesday. The Crusaders held a lead at halftime but Mount Olive was able to come away with the 2-1 victory. The Abbey is now 7-6-1 on the year with a 6-2-1 Conference Carolinas record. The Trojans improve to 4-9-1 with a 3-5-1 league record.


  • Belmont Abbey opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Davis McBee put in a cross from Albin Baathe.
  • Mount Olive responded in the 30th minute when Lucas Arthur scored.
  • The Crusaders retook the lead with seconds left in the first half off a header by Ryan Cowie.
  • Mount olive leveled the score in the 53rd minute on a goal by Ben Dufton-Kelly.
  • The final goal of the match was netted in the 87th minute by Mount Olive's Sam Murphy.
  • Both teams took 12 shots in the contest.
