Serio's Three Assists Lift Crusaders

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team scored three goals earn their first Conference Carolinas win Saturday. Gianni Serio assisted on all three goals for The Crusaders (1-2, 1-0 CC), who trailed Barton (2-1, 0-1 CC) 1-0 for seven minutes.


  • Barton opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a goal from Ruben Mancio.
  • The Crusaders responded in the 25th minute off a free kick from Serio that was headed in by Sander Herlofsen.
  • Enter the half tied at one, The Abbey held the advantage in shots 10-7.
  • Albin Baathe headed in another Serio cross to give the Crusaders the 2-1 lead.
  • Belmont Abbey added some insurance in the 90th minute when Adam Lindskog headed in Serio's pass.
  • The Crusaders did not give up a shot to the Bulldogs in the second half.
  • Ben Knust finished the game with two saves.
