Crusaders End Regular Season Exceeding Expectations

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 loss to Chowan Saturday. The Crusaders ended the regular season with a 9-4-1 record and 6-2-1 conference record. Picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, The Abbey has already secured a home game in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Tuesday. Belmont Abbey will be a two or three seed for Tuesday's 2 pm game.

Chowan benefitted from a goal by Josh Baker in the 45th minute and Terell Williamson's goal in the 80th minute. The Hawks finish their regular season 10-4-2 with a 5-3-2 conference record.

The Crusaders took five shots on the afternoon led by Mark Trompeter's three attempts. Gianni Serio and Juan Villa also took shots for The Abbey.

Crusader keeper Evan Morrow recorded two saves.

Belmont Abbey will host a quarterfinal match Tuesday at 2 P.M. The Crusaders will be the two or three seed hosting the seven or six seed. Check and @AbbeyAthletics on social media for further updates.
