Billy Huss, Liam Osborne Named to USILA DII Team of the Week

BELMONT, N.C. - Belmont Abbey senior Billy Huss and junior Liam Osborne have been named to the USILA DII Team of the week, the organization announced today.

Last week, against Molloy College, Huss won 16 of his 22 faceoffs.  He picked up a total of nine ground balls.  Osborne scored four goals on eight shots, while also handing out two assists.  He picked up five ground balls.  Osborne has tallied seven assists, this season, which puts him at second place, in Conference Carolinas, only behind teammate Adam Wiedemann.

Belmont Abbey will play a home game against Florida Southern College on Friday, February 23.  The game will begin at 3 p.m.

USILA DII Team of the Week

Charlie Bertrand, Attack - Merrimack * Started the year with six points on four goals and two assists in Merrimack's 16-14 road win at #8 NYIT.

Sean Black, Attack - Merrimack * Began his college career with a seven-point performance, scoring four times and adding three assists. That helped the Warriors post a 16-14 road win at #8 NYIT.

Jack Trask, Midfield - Merrimack * Posted a hat trick in helping Merrimack stave off upset-minded NYIT in the Warriors' season opening road victory on Sunday.

Charlie Kurtenbach, Attack - Midfield Saint Leo * Finished with seven points and three ground balls in a 15-10 win over Young Harris.

Will Urban, Goalie - Mount Olive * Made 14 stops while allowing only two goals in a victory over Catawba.

Billy Huss, Midfield - Belmont Abbey * Won 16-of-22 faceoffs (73%) while picking up 19 ground balls in helping Belmont Abbey post an impressive win over Molloy.

Matt Chanechuk, Attack - NYIT Finished with six points (3g, 3a), three ground balls and a caused turnover in NYIT's hard-fought loss to #1 Merrimack.

Thatcher Clark, Attack - Mount Olive * Had a five-point outing (4g, 1a) for Mount Olive in its win over Catawba.

Liam Osborne, Attack - Belmont Abbey Posed a six-point outing (4g, 2a) while adding five ground balls to help Belmont Abbey top Molloy.

Matt Murphy, Attack - NYIT Had an impressive outing for NYIT in an upset bid of #1 Merrimack on Sunday, finishing with five points (3g, 2a) and three ground balls.
