BOONE, N.C. -- The Belmont Abbey men's cycling team enjoyed three top 10 finishes overall as it competed in the ACCC/SECC Dual this weekend at Appalachian State.
On Saturday in the road race, Charles Daniel took advantage of hard work by his teammates to finish fourth overall. Sunday's criterium saw Trey Hedgecock place third and Daniel sixth. Jesse Kooistra, Collin Tellechea and Nat Worchester all had top 20 results.
"We were using App State weekend as a chance to dial in our nationals approach and mindset," Head Coach Derek Dalzell said. "We found things that didn't work and then things that were ideal for our team strengths. We leave this weekend with a strong idea of who we are as a team and what we need to do in races for our best results. Overall it was a great race and positive experience for our team."
Belmont Abbey competes next weekend at the ACCC Championships in Baltimore and College Park, Md.
