Crusaders Homer Twice in First Round of Conference Tournament

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The fifth-seeded Belmont Abbey Crusaders outhit the number two-seeded Barton Bulldogs in the first round of the Conference Carolinas baseball tournament Thursday. The Crusaders (25-13) were not able to hold the lead, as Barton (30-19) took the 8-7 come-from-behind win.

Highlights

Four Crusaders recorded multi-hit games as Mason Dodd, Jakob Rolly, Richard DeLaCruz, and Zach Aehlert all recorded two knocks.

Dodd and Aehlert homered in the contest with Dodd clearing the fence in the third inning and Aehlert in the seventh.

Aehlert drove in three runs in the game and Dodd added a pair of RBI.

Ben Sneider and DeLaCruz also drove in runs during the game.

Sam Luchansky started on the mound throwing 5.2 innings striking out six.

Jason White and Parker MacPhail came on in relief for The Abbey.
