Hetzel Leads Crusaders at Queens City Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior Annie Hetzel led the Belmont Abbey women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish among Division II teams at today's Queens City Invite 5K, hosted by Queens University.  The Crusaders finished ahead of a pair of Conference Carolinas members, Limestone and Lees-McRae.  It was The Abbey's third meet this year.

How it Happened

  • Hetzel was the first Abbey runner to complete the race, which she did in 19:49, good enough for a score of 84
  • Up next for the Crusaders was senior Julia Otranto, who finished with a time of 19:59
  • Junior Hannah Zenker was next, with a 20:06 race, while freshman Keely Weber was not far behind at 20:16

The Abbey will next compete in Royals Cross Country Invitational, which will also be hosted by Queens, on Friday, October 12.  That 5K race will begin at 4 p.m. in Charlotte.
