WILSON, N.C. -- Senior Aimee Cloninger was named to the Conference Carolinas Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team for her performance in Belmont Abbey's two matches, the league announced following the championship match on Sunday.
Cloninger and the Cruaders swept their quarterfinal match on Tuesday as the No. 2 North seed before falling to Erskine 3-1 in the semifinals.
A native of China Grove, N.C., Cloninger averaged 11.5 kills and 10.5 digs per set in the tournament, posting her seventh double-double of the season against the Flying Fleet on Saturday. She tallied 14 kills and 10 digs in that matchup after tallying nine kills and 11 digs in the quarterfinal matchup with Limestone.
Cloninger came to Belmont Abbey as a junior college transfer in 2015 and made an immediate impact. She played in 57 matches, averaging 2.16 kills and 2.41 digs per game. During the 2016 season, she achieved a 2.3 passing rating from the coaching staff.
The all-tournament team also featured Ashton Beckner (King), Kristen Dodge (Erskine), Marissa Mayfield (Erskine), Riley Bane (Barton) and Allie Cullens (Barton). The Most Outstanding Player was Angelica Acevedo of Barton.
