Hetzel, Otranto Earn Podium Spots at Conference Championship

CENTRAL, S.C. -- Annie Hetzel turned in her personal best performance in the 1500 meters to finish second, highlighting action on the final day of the 2018 Conference Carolinas Women's Track and Field Championship. Hoping to break five minutes, the sophomore ran a time of 4.55.93.

Later in the afternoon, Hetzel returned to the podium, finishing third in the 5000m with a time of 19:35.14.

Julia Otranto also earned a second-place spot, topping her best time ever -- 2:21.69 -- by .30 seconds in th 800m.

Hannah Zenker and Theresa Wilson earned points in the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing sixth (13:14.33) and eighth (14:11.56), respectively. Brette Linkenhoker was just behind in ninth at 14:16.17.

Savannah Lamb posted new personal best in the 400 Hurdles, coming in seventh at 1:12.06.

Mount Olive won the team championship, while Belmont Abbey was ninth with 30 points.
