Noblett, Weber Earn Shutouts in Abbey's 8-1 Win Over Converse

BELMONT, N.C. - The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory this afternoon over Converse College.  The win improves the Crusaders' record to 9-13 on the year, with a 3-6 conference mark.  The Valkyries are now 6-14 overall, and 2-7 in conference play.

Belmont Abbey started the day off winning all three doubles matches, highlighted by Erika Noblett and Morgan Zahnd getting an 8-1 win at the #3 spot.

In singles play, Noblett, playing at #5, earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, followed by Alex Weber at #6, who also recorded a shutout.  Teagan McNamara contributed a 6-1, 6-0 win at #2 singles.

Head Coach Michael Salomon offered some comments on today's match: "I was really impressed with how we were able to keep a constant level of competitiveness, even after a tough match against SWU last weekend.  We really showed some grit in doubles and also were able to carry that into singles play."

The Crusaders will next welcome Catawba College on Thursday, April 6 at 2 p.m.  It will be final home match of the regular season for The Abbey.
