Belmont Abbey Earns Shutout of Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Katherine Turner scored a late goal, and Belmont Abbey recorded a 1-0 shutout at Palm Beach Atlantic this evening.  The victory gives the Crusaders a 3-0 start to the season.  The Sailfish are now 1-1-1.

How it Happened

  • Sydney Pluhacek took the first Crusader shot of the game, in the 11th minute
  • Both teams finished the night with 10 shots, with Kathryn Laughlin leading The Abbey with three
  • With under six minutes to play in the contest, Turner took a shot from far out that found the back of the net for the lone goal of the match
  • The Crusader defensive unit gave up 10 shots to Palm Beach Atlantic, led by the outstanding play of senior Rachel Coutinho
  • Sophomore Caroline Lauer made three saves in goal
