Women's Soccer Plays One Half Before Lightning Strikes

BELMONT, N.C. -- The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team had a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes, but repeated lightning during halftime forced a delay and then suspension. Plans to resume the game have not been announced.

In the 34th minute, forward Cassie Manion's header off a pass from Kooba Richard gave the Crusaders the only goal of the half.  As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot the Wolves 15-4. Kaitlyn Paul registered a save on one of Newberry's attempts.

Belmont Abbey returns to action on Saturday, when it faces the Lander Bearcats in Greenwood, S.C.
