FINDLAY, OHIO – Greg Hilliard qualifies for the national tournament with his fourth-place finish in the NCAA Super Regional Midwest. Hilliard went 4-2 on his way to a fourth-place finish in the 165 weight class. The sophomore competed in four matches on the second day of the super-regional to qualify for nationals.
Hilliard was beaten by the eventual first-place finisher, Brett Romanzak of Ashland, in the first round with a 4-1 decision. He then beat Hunter Corwin of CC in a pin at 1:19 followed by a 7-2 decision over Richard Screptock of Tiffin. Hilliard defeated Brett Scoles of UWP with a fall at 3:16 before losing to Rodney Shephard in the third-place match by an 8-2 decision. Hilliard then beat Scoles again to claim fourth place and the last spot at the national tournament.
Gregor earned a 5-4 decision in the 141 weight class. Glunt recorded a pin in the first round of the 174 weight division. Girard worked his way to a 7-1 decision in the 197 weight class.
Hilliard will travel to NCAA Nationals in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 9.
