WINTER PARK, FL - The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse lost a 16-3 decision at Rollins College this afternoon. The Crusaders are now 4-5, while the Tars improve to 8-2.
Rollins scored two goals early, but freshman Marin Felsoci quickly ended the streak as she scored a free position goal just 2:06 into the contest. The defense also picked up, allowing just one Rollins goal in a 18:14 span. During the stretch, the Abbey caused multiple Tar turnovers and got multiple free positions shots, keeping the pressure on the Rollins defenders. Rollins led 8-1 at halftime.
In the second half, the Abbey got some momentum back as junior Rebecca Stromberg scored the first goal of the period. At the 13:30 mark, Katelin Glass set up Felsoci for her second goal of the day and a 13-3 score. The Crusader defense held the tars scoreless over the last 5:29, though Rollins got the win 16-3.
On the day, Felsoci's pair of goals led the Abbey offensively. Stromberg also scored a goal. Freshman Amber Eakins stepped in and caused two Rollins turnovers. That brought Eakins to 24 caused turnovers on the season. Senior defender Kassie Easter picked up a game-high three ground balls. She now has 19 on the year.
