Gribbon Moves Up at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Junior Kaitlyn Gribbon trimmed four strokes off her opening round to move up 18 spots Tuesday, leading Belmont Abbey to a tie for 12th at the 2016 Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. The Boynton Beach, Fla., native shot 77 in the second round after an 81 on Monday for a score of 158, tying for 25th.

The Crusaders posted a team score of 334 over the second 18 holes for a two-day total of 665. West Georgia won the team competition at 608, with Ashlii Thompson of UNC-Pembroke claiming medalist honors at one-over 145 (74-71).

Haley Helton tied for 45th overall at 162 (76-86), while Dametrah Lewis finished alone in 65th at 171 (87-84). Taylor Cozart fired her second straight 87 to tie for 69th at 174 and Elizabeth Hordes rounded out the scoring with a 179 (90-89/t79th).

Belmont Abbey returns to action next week at the Patsy Rendleman Invite, played at the Country Club of Salisbury.
