Gribbon Stands Second after Day One of Cutter Creek Invitational

SNOW HILL, N.C. -- Junior Kaitlyn Gribbon fired a one-over 73 to stand all alone in second place after the first day of the 2016 Cutter Creek Invitational. The Crusaders No. 1 player is just two shots off the lead, held by Ashlii Thompson of UNC Pembroke.

Gribbon shot one-under 35 on the front and two-over 38 on the back, registering three birdies on the day.

As a team, Belmont Abbey stands eighth overall, registering a score of 337. Haley Helton is tied for  31st at 84, while Anne Parlmer cared an 89 to tie for 43rd. Jamie Treece is tied for 47th, while Taylor Cozart rounded out the scoring with a 94 (tied for 51st).

Belmont Abbey entered a second team in the competition, which is in 11th place. The individual scores were Elizabeth Hordes, 90 (t45), Dametrah Lewis 90 (t45), Karleigh Morrison 94 (t51), Autumn Senter 95 (t51) and Deanna Young 105 (56).

Play concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes.
