The Belmont Abbey Women's Basketball team fell to the Limestone Saints 90-59 in the Timken Center tonight. With the loss, Limestone improved to 20-0 on the year including 15-0 against conference opponents. The Abbey dipped to 7-14 on the season and 6-9 in conference games.
Junior Gabrielle Bethel recorded her 13th double-double of the year as she scored ten points and grabbed 12 boards. Junior Larisa Bishop scored 15 and sophomore Alex Busch contributed 14. The Abbey defense, meanwhile, held Limestone only allowed two Saints to score in double figures.
Sophomore Briana Grier handed out seven assists, tied for the game's high.
The Abbey led in the game's opening minutes, but a 19-7 run put Limestone ahead by 11 in the first quarter. Belmont Abbey did not fold, as it continued to stay within 13 points through most of the second quarter. The defense also surrendered fewer points each quarter.
Offensively, the Crusaders shot a respectable 40.9 percent from three-point range on the night.
The Abbey will next take to the hardwood on on Tuesday when it hosts North Greenville University.
