Crusaders Compete at Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. - Hailey Gass went 2-for-3 with a run for the Crusader softball team in game one, but The Abbey lost both contests at Erskine this afternoon, by scores of 2-1 and 2-0.  The Abbey now stands at 11-11 on the year, with a 3-3 Conference Carolinas record.  Erskine moves to 15-4 overall, and 2-0 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • In Game 1, Erskine plated two runs in the fourth, which would prove to be the game winner
  • In the fifth, Claire Doyle drew a walk to score Gass, which was the Crusaders lone score of the game
  • Ivorie Maltby threw two innings of relief, and gave up no runs
  • In Game 2, Payton Whitley and Morgan Smith registered hits for Belmont Abbey
  • Annabeth Watkins threw two innings of relief, and gave up no runs

Belmont Abbey will visit Francis Marion on Wednesday, March 20.  That doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m.
