HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey sophomore Melissa Neyhouse has been chosen as the first-team All-Conference Carolinas shortstop, the league office announced tonight at the annual award ceremony. Voting was conducted by the league's head coaches.
Neyhouse led the Crusaders with a .322 batting average, tallying one home run and 18 runs batted in. She was tied for ninth in the conference in hits and tied for sixth in doubles (11). A native of San Diego, Neyhouse his safely in 35 games this season, registering multiple hits eight times. She hit .383 in conference play.
Belmont Abbey opens Conference Carolinas Tournament play tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Burlington, N.C. The sixth-seeded Crusaders face No. 3 seed North Greenville.
