Peyton Wilson Homers Against Young Harris
BELMONT, N.C. -- Peyton Wilson homered and singled, while Melissa Neyhouse and Alexis Pereiro also registered hits in both games of a non-conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon, but Belmont Abbey dropped both ends, 2-1 and 5-1 at Crusader Field.  The Abbey is now 6-10 in 2018.  Young Harris is now 9-6.  Neyhouse finished the day 3-for-5, while Pereiro was 2-for-4.
In the opener, Young Harris put together three hits in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie.  The Mountain Lions led 1-0 until the fourth, when the Crusaders plated an unearned run.  Neyhouse led off with a single and went to third on an error. She later scored on a sacrifice fly by Claire Doyle.
Neyhouse and Doyle each had two hits in the contest, while Pereiro and Peyton Wilson also reached base safely.
Chance Helms (3-3) took the hard-luck complete-game loss after allowing just two runs. Kennedy Kotula (3-2) earned the win for YHC.

In the nightcap, the Mountain Lions opened a 5-0 lead after three runs in the third and single scores in the fifth and sixth.  Then Wilson hit a towering drive over the left-field fence in the bottom of the sixth to put the Crusaders on the board.
Dharma Rosbrugh (5-3) picked up the win in game two, while Annabeth Watkins (2-5) took the loss.
After playing six games at home in a five-day span, Belmont Abbey takes the road Wednesday for a double-header at Lenoir-Rhyne.
