SALISBURY, NC - The Belmont Abbey softball team lost a pair of games this afternoon at Catawba. Game scores were 9-1 and 17-3. The Abbey now stands at 1-7 in 2017 while the Indians move to 2-9.
In game 1, the Crusaders gave up a run in the second inning, but quickly responded with a run of their own in the top of the third, as shortstop Melissa Neyhouse singled in Vienna Benavides. After surrendering some runs in the fourth, the Abbey threatened in the fifth, when it loaded the bases with one out. Unfortunately, the Crusaders could not get the run across and lost the contest 9-1.
