Lester Leads Men's Cross Country At Royals Challenge

The Belmont Abbey Men's Cross Country Team ran to a 31st-place finish out of 39 teams, and a 20th-place finish out of 24 division II teams in today's 8K at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.

Belmont Abbey started out strong with sophomore Patrick Lester finishing his first mile in 5:38 with senior teammate David Iverson not far behind at 5:56.  Lester was still competitive after three miles, which he completed in 16:58 while Iverson made it in 17:19.  Lester finished the race in 27.58.  Iverson clocked a 28:56 time.

Up next for the Crusaders with a 29:07 race was freshman Thomas Eichorn, who finished right in front of teammate Nicholas Snell, with a 29:09 run.  Senior EJ Cerdeiras ran a 31:19 race.

The Abbey will next run when it hosts the Conference Carolinas Championship at Frank Liske Park on October 23.
