HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey outside hitter Liam Maxwell has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week, the league office announced today. He is the first Crusader to win the award this year.

Maxwell, a sophomore from Manahawkin, N.J., led the Crusaders to a 2-1 record last week after averaging 4.57 kills per set on 64 total kills. He also tallied 20 digs, eight service aces and five blocks on the week. Against Limestone, Maxwell just missed out on a double-double, notching a then-career-high 23 kills and eight digs with two service aces in the 3-2 win. In a 3-1 victory over Erskine, Maxwell established another career high with 26 kills, while adding six digs and three blocks. He was named Off the Blocks' National Player of the Night for the effort. In the team's 3-2 loss to Emmanuel, he would register 15 kills, six digs and five service aces. All totaled, Maxwell was responsible for 75.5 points during the week.

Maxwell currently has a 3.90 kills per set average on 152 total kills. Both of those numbers lead Conference Carolinas.
