Abbey Men's Tennis Faces a Pair of Top 50-Ranked Opponents

The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team lost to a pair of teams ranked in the nation's top 50 today.  The Crusaders lost 9-0 to Augusta University, currently ranked 49th in the nation, and 8-1 to USC Aiken, which is currently ranked 40th in the country.  The team now stands at 5-4 on the season.

Junior James Delaney registered the win for the Abbey, which he earned at #4 singles.  Freshman George Barfoot also forced a tiebreaking set against Augusta at #3 singles.

Head Coach Michael Salomon offered some thoughts on the day, commenting: "We're getting to see some great competition early, so I'm very optimistic about our ability to improve and learn from these tight matches. We're getting to see very early in the season how much work goes into having a championship attitude and culture, and I'm excited for the men's team to buckle down and focus on perfecting our process as we get ready for our first conference match in 2 weeks."

Belmont Abbey will be back on the courts Friday, when it welcomes Anderson (SC) for a 1pm match.
