Grant Goldin Highlights Men's Tennis Performance at Wingate

WINGATE, NC - The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team lost 8-1 at Wingate this afternoon, putting them at 1-2 this Spring.  Wingate moved to 1-1.

Sophomore Grant Goldin provided the lone win for the Crusaders, as he earned the victory at #3 singles with scores of 7-6, 6-4.  Goldin also teamed with Carlos Nolasco at #3 doubles, and the duo tied for the team's highest doubles score.

Freshman Zachary Blythe was also impressive, forcing his opponent at #4 singles into a tiebreaking set.

Head Coach Michael Salomon commented on today's match, stating: "We ran up against a strong team today in Wingate.  They came out ready to fight for every last point in every match, both singles and doubles.  We were encouraged by some improvements that we saw on the court since our last match against Lenoir-Rhyne, but there is no doubt we still have a long way to go in our process of maturing as a team."

"We have Augusta University and USC-Aiken, our first nationally ranked opponents, scheduled for this Thursday and are looking forward to being tested again by another set of quality opponents."

The Crusaders will be back on the court Thursday when they visit Augusta and USC-Aiken.
