Delaney Earns Lone Crusader Victory At Number Three Singles As Men's Tennis Falls At Pfeiffer, 8-1

Belmont Abbey freshman James Delaney posted the lone Crusaders victory with a three set triumph at number three singles as the Crusaders men's tennis team lost at Pfeiffer by an 8-1 score this afternoon. The Falcons improve to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey falls to 8-8 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Delaney gutted out a three set victory at the third flight, defeating Bjorn Barwinski 6-1, 6-7, 10-7. The other five singles matches were won by Pfeiffer in straight sets.

The Crusaders lost all three doubles matches, not without battling, as the top flight of Conner McMann and Juan Baez fell 8-4. Delaney and Eduardo Escobar lost at number two 8-3, while Damien Nelson and Nikhil Reddy Amaresh suffered a close 8-6 loss at number three.

Belmont Abbey is back in action tomorrow at 1:00 when hosting Young Harris.
