Men's Tennis Opens Season With 9-0 Loss To USC-Aiken On First Action At Reidy Tennis Center

The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team opened the 2014 season with a 9-0 loss to the visiting USC-Aiken Pacers this afternoon on the first matches played at the brand new, seven court Reidy Tennis Center on the Belmont Abbey campus.

The Reidy Tennis Center was dedicated in October, construction finished in November and play beginning today.

The Crusaders had two chances to win a match, both in singles and doubles. In the number one doubles match, Conner McMann and Juan Baez lost a tough 9-8 decision on a 7-3 tiebreaker.

Later, in number one singles, McMann claimed the first set 6-4, but was blanked in the second set 6-0. In the tiebreaker, he fell 10-7.

Today's match began a run of three matches in three days for the Crusaders, which will host UNC Pembroke tomorrow at 1:00 and then travel to Newberry for a Sunday match beginning at 1:00.
