Men's Soccer Faces Emmanuel in Conference Quarterfinals

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team hosted the first round if the Conference Carolinas men' soccer championship Monday at Alumni Field. The second-seeded Crusaders (7-7-3, 6-1-3) hosted the seventh-seeded Emmanuel Lions (8-8-1, 4-5-1). The Lions were able to come away with the 1-0 victory as the Crusaders exited the Conference Carolinas Championship.

How It Happened

  • Emmanuel's Blair Springhall as able to beat the keeper to score the only goal of the match in the 13th minute.
  • Belmont Abbey recorded 17 shots in the contest with two finding the frame.
  • The Lions took 10 shots also with two on goal.
  • Abbey's keeper, Ben Knust managed a save in the game as Emmanuel keeper, Andy Dunnett, saved two shots.
  • Belmont Abbey had 10 players attempt shots with seven taking multiple shots.

The Crusaders were picked fourth in the preseason poll, finished second with only one conference loss.
