PINEVILLE, N.C. -- The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 victory over Chowan. Belmont Abbey (7-6-3, 6-1-3) is currently tied for first place in Conference Carolinas with two games still to be played Friday night. The game was played at the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex due to weather.

How it Happened

  • Kenz Buteau scored in the 44th minute on a pass from James Delaney to give The Abbey the 1-0 lead.
  • Mikey Puskar added a goal in the 56th minute connecting on a pass from Mark Trompeter.
  • Chowan's Trevin Myers headed in a goal from Mitchell Levi Lewis to put the Hawks on the board in the 83rd minute.
  • Abbey keeper Ben Knust recorded seven saves on the afternoon.
  • Chowan keeper Elliot Chadderton had one save.

Conference Carolinas Championship

  • Belmont Abbey has secured one of the top two seeds in the men's soccer championship
  • The Crusaders can adorn the top seed pending an Erskine win in Gaffney tonight.
  • The tournament begins Monday with the top four seeds hosting.
