TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Julien Armaroli found the back of the net with less than two minutes remaining in the contest to lead the Belmont Abbey men's soccer team to a 4-3 Conference Carolinas win over North Greenville. The Crusaders improve to 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The Crusader of North Greenville is now 3-7-2 and 2-4-1 in the conference.
Belmont Abbey opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Geinner Duque headed in a pass from Nando Morales. The strike was Duque's fifth goal of the season. The Abbey added to their lead in the 20th minute when James Delaney found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. The goal came off a pass from senior Patrick Kibler.
Right before the half, North Greenville was able to get on the board when Ope Olaloko scored his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute. The contests entered halftime with the 2-1 score.
To begin the second half, in the 63rd minute, North Greenville's Olaloko struck again for his second goal of the night, knotting the score at two. Olaloko recorded his third goal of the game in the 72nd minute to give North Greenville their first lead of the game.
Morales and the Crusaders answered in the 78th minute as Mark Trompeter assisted his third goal of the season. With the games tied 3-3, entering the final moments, Harrison Clark found Armaroli for the game-winner.
Belmont Abbey outshot North Greenville 16-14 with Abbey keeper Wes Holifield recording 5 saves. North Greenville keeper James Miller managed 5.
The Abbey will host Erskine Saturday as they honor their seniors with the game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
