Men's Soccer Scores a Pair in Road Conference Match

WILSON, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team scored two goals in their conference road match against Barton Thursday night. The Bulldogs scored three goals to move their record to 3-6-1 with a 1-2-1 Conference Carolinas' record. The Crusaders record moves to 2-6-2 and 1-4 in conference play.

The Crusaders struck first in the 10th minute when Clay Dimick took a pass from Geinner Duque from the left side and struck it by the keeper.  The score was Dimick's fourth goal of the season.

Barton responded in the 36th minute as Tyler Dew headed in a corner kick. The two teams entered half time tied at one, the Abbey having taken eight shots and Barton recording five.

Belmont Abbey retook the lead in the 62nd minute when Nando Morales took advantage of a defender's miscue and beat the keeper to put the Abbey up 2-1.

Barton tied the game in the 66th minute when Noah Tausch found the back of the net. The Bulldogs took the lead in the 86th minute on Austin Tausch's finish of a corner kick. Crusader keeper Wes Holifield finished with three saves.

The Abbey's next match will be at Erskine Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
