Men's Soccer Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 4-2 Wednesday.

The Bears took an early lead with Devi Ndrita's header finding the back of the net in the sixth minute.  Lenoir-Rhyne (3-1-1) added their second goal in the 28th minute off the foot of Ismael Noumansana.

The Crusaders (1-2-1) fought back adding a goal of their own in the closing minute of the first half as junior Scott Christman scored his first goal of the season collecting a rebound and striking it into the net.

The Bears scored two more goals as Noumansana put one in off a free kick (66') and a Emil Tansinda header crossed the line (70').

The Abbey's comeback effort was led by freshman Steven Pate as he scored off senior Clay Dimick's pass in the 71 minute. Sophomore Wes Holifield recorded six saves throughout the 90 minutes.

The Crusaders will open their conference schedule on the road in Gaffney, S.C. Saturday as they face Limestone. That game will begin at 5 pm.
