CONOVER, N.C. -- Levi Kettelhut shot a two-over 73 on Tuesday, highlighting Belmont Abbey's second day at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa. The junior enters the final round in a tie for 20th at two-over 144.
Going off the No. 10 tee, Kettelhut made the turn at one-over 37 with bogeys at Nos. 11 and 14, followed by a birdie at 15. He pulled back to even on the par-four fifth hole, but double-bogey No. 8 to finish at two-over.
Stafford posted a 78 during his second round. Also starting on the back nine, he had a bogey and all pars until the 18th, where he double-bogeyed after an errant tee shot. The effect continued as he bogeyed three of the first four holes on his back nine.
Stafford begins his final round as a Crusader at 8:20 on Wednesday. Kettelhut starts at 11:50, needing an under-par round to move back into contention for an individual slot at the national championship.
