LENOIR CITY, Tenn. -- Senior Nick Stafford fired a one-over par 73 on Tuesday to sit in a tie for second place after the first day of the Tennessee River Rumble. The final 18 holes are scheduled for Wednesday at the Tennessee National Golf Club.
Belmont Abbey has three teams competing in the event, with the top group in sixth at 309. The "B" team shot 321 to stand 14th, while the "C" team is 16th at 341. King is the leader at the halfway point with a score of 300.
Stafford had three birdies and four bogeys, shooting even par over the back nine. Chris Kopack is tied for 24th at 77, while Levi Kettelhut is tied for 42nd at 79. Maurizio Debono follows at 80, in a tie for 49th, while Michael Mead rounded out the "A" team scoring at 87 in a tie for 79th.
The second team was led by Sean Miller and John Molyneaux, who each shot 77s to tie for 24th. Landon Isaacs is tied for 62nd at 82, while Madison Duffie is 77th at 85. Brody Davis was disqualified from the first round, but will compete toward the team score on Wednesday.
The final group was led by Oliver Arsenault, who shot 80 to stand tied for 49th. Trevor Huffman, Zane Galloway and Nick Scott each shot 87 to tie for 79th, while Jamie Mayberry rounded out the scoring in 90th with a 105.
