HICKORY, N.C. -- Deion Lane led three players in double figures with 15 points, but a cold-shooting first half led to a 76-58 setback at Lenoir-Rhyne in men's basketball action Wednesday night. Myron Carmon tallied a career-high 13 points, while DeQuan Abrom added 12.
The Crusaders (5-5) jumped out to an early 8-6 lead, but gave up nine straight points over the next 3:34 to trail by seven. The run continued to 32-10 in a span of over 12 minutes, putting the Bears up 20, 38-18, with 1:57 left in the half. The Abbey finished the first half with its lowest-shooting period of the season -- 35.5 percent.
In the second half, the teams were even, but the Crusaders could never get their deficit under 14 points.
Belmont Abbey returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Southern Wesleyan in a doubleheader with the women's team. The Crusaders and Warriors will tip at approximately 7:30 p.m.
