ROYSTON, Ga. -- A combination of a hot-shooting opponent and an off night from the field was all the difference in a 92-56 Emmanuel victory over Belmont Abbey in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Lions hit 59.6 percent (34 of 57) during the contest, while limiting the Crusaders to just 44.0 percent.
Deion Lane was the only Crusader to top double figures in scoring with 15 points and seven rebounds before fouling out. Emmanuel had five players with at least 10 points, including a pair with 14.
Emmanuel (12-10, 7-7) scored the first six points of the game and led by 10, 16-6, at the 15:12 mark. A 17-6 run over the next 8:20 pushed the margin to 21, enroute to a 47-20 difference at the break.
The Crusaders (10-12, 6-8) begin their final homestand of the year, lasting four games, on Wednesday against Mount Olive.
