Men's Basketball Ends 2014-15 Season With 71-60 Loss To Pfeiffer

The Belmont Abbey men's basketball team ended the 2014-15 season with a 71-60 loss to the visiting Pfeiffer University Falcons this evening inside the Wheeler Center. Pfeiffer improves to 15-11 overall and 11-9 in Conference Carolinas, while the Crusaders end their season with a mark of 2-26 overall and 1-19 in league play.

The Crusaders had no juniors or seniors as the 11 man rotation consisted of freshmen and sophomores.

Pfeiffer never trailed as it built a 32-22 halftime lead on the strength of 57 percent shooting from the field.

The Falcons opened the game on a 10-4 run only to see the Crusaders score the next five points to slice the lead down to one, but Pfeiffer moved back in front 20-11 on a 10-1 run.

The second half saw the Falcons outscore the Crusaders by just one point as Belmont Abbey, which shot just 20 percent in the first half, recorded a 44 percent output in the second half. The deficit, however, never fell into the single digits, as the Falcons recorded an 11 point victory.

Ray Chen led the Crusaders with 20 points, while Nick Hough added 18. Belmont Abbey shot 33 percent from the field and converted 14 of 23 from the free throw line.
