Trio of Crusaders Score in Shutout of Converse

BELMONT, N.C. - The Belmont Abbey Field Hockey team earned a 3-0 shutout of conference opponent Converse this evening.  The win puts the Crusaders at 2-2 this season, with a 2-1 conference mark.  The Valkyries move to 0-5 on the year, including 0-2 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • Xanthe Rademeyer got the scoring started 13 minutes into the game, giving The Abbey a 1-0 halftime advantage
  • It only took Katana Cawley five minutes into the second half to find the back of the net off a pass from Demetria Barrow
  • With just under seven minutes left, Nicole Wong set up Kristen Perret for a goal and a 3-0 Abbey victory
  • Belmont Abbey outshot Converse 28-12 on the day
  • The Crusaders took 15 corners, to the Valkyries' six
