Crusaders Take Series vs King

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team won their second straight Conference Carolinas series with two wins over King this weekend. The Crusaders split Saturday's doubleheader capturing the second game to win the series. The Crusaders improve to 18-20 with a 9-10 conference record. King moves to 11-18 with a 6-10 league slate.  

Game One

King 9, Belmont Abbey 4

Justin Moran went 3-for-3 with an RBI single in the seventh.

The Crusaders scored three runs in the third inning coming from RBI singles from Richard DeLaCruz and Mason Dodd. Ben Gobbel lifted a sacrifice fly to add to the scoring.

Sam Luchansky pitched 4.2 innings recording four strikeouts.

Nolan Wilson, Will Carney, and Joe Cooney all pitched in relief.

 

Game Two

Belmont Abbey 10, King 1

The Crusaders scored five runs in the first and four runs in the second.

Jakob Rolly recorded two hits with two RBI and two runs scored.

Kale Rhame, Mason Dodd, and Rolly all scored two runs.

In the first, Rolly and Matty Bapst recorded RBI singles followed by an RBI double by DeLaCruz.

In the second, Rhame, Rolly, and Derrick Dabney all registered RBI singles.

Sam High Pitched 8.0 innings only allowing one run while striking out 12.

The Crusaders added another run in the seventh when Ben Sneider laced an RBI single up the middle.
