BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team put together an explosive eighth inning, scoring 10 runs to take the lead and secure the win over Southern Wesleyan. The Crusaders collected 15 hits enroot to their 13th win improving to 13-18 on the season with a 5-9 Conference Carolinas record. The Warriors move to 12-16 on the season with a 4-8 league record.
Five Crusaders collected multiple hits and multiple RBIs.
Trailing by a run entering the bottom of the eighth inning, The Abbey strung together six hits to score 10 runs.
Adam Overcash came through with a pinch-hit two-run double to give the Crusaders the lead.
Ben Sneider scored three runs in the game.
Belmont Abbey starter Griffin Baker tossed 6.1 innings striking out a season-high 11 batters.
Parker MacPhail earned his second win of the season with his 1.2 innings of relief allowing only one run and struck out four.
The Crusaders complete the three-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1 pm.
