Dodd Crushes Two Home Runs at Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team traveled to Newberry for their first doubleheader of the season. The Crusaders scored four runs in game one and six runs in game two, collecting 11 hits on the afternoon. Mason Dodd stroked two home runs on the day driving in three runs.

Game 1

Newberry 6, Belmont Abbey 4

Mason Dodd and Richard DeLaCruz each went 2-for-4.

Dodd drove in two runs, scored two runs, and stole two bases in the game.

Jakob Rolly and Dodd each clubbed home runs.

Joe Cooney started the game and went 1.2 innings with five strikeouts.

 

Game 2

Newberry 7, Belmont Abbey 6 (12 innings)

The Crusades scored four runs in the sixth inning to tie the Wolves.

Ben Sneider, Collin Andres, Dodd, and DeLaCruz all had hits.

Dodd homered in the second inning.

The Abbey managed to plate the go-ahead run in the 12th after a bases-loaded walk.

Sam Luchansky pitched 4.0 innings striking out four.
