JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The No. 2 Belmont Abbey baseball team Crusaders collected six hits including a home run from Jakob Rolly but were not able to overcome Carson-Newman as the Eagles took the 4-2 win Tuesday. Two Crusaders recorded a multi-hit game as Matt McGarry and Luke Cureton both tallied two hits.  The loss ended Belmont Abbey's 10 game win-streak, its second 10 game win streak of the season. The Crusaders are now 28-6 as the Eagles move to 20-15.

Belmont Abbey took a 2-0 lead after a sac fly from Thomas Yoder in the first and Rolly's eighth home run of the season in the second inning. Carson-Newman was able to get a run back in the third with a ground ball and tied the game in the fifth off a home run from J. Griffin. The Eagles took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single in the fifth. Carson-Newman added to their lead in the sixth, taking advantage of two Crusader miscues.

The Abbey had opportunities in the eighth after the Crusaders worked the bases loaded with two outs but were not able to capitalize.

Cameron Busby took the loss after pitching 7.0 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. Parker MacPhail came on to throw the last frame for Belmont Abbey. Carson-Newman used seven pitchers to beat The Abbey with Tyler Hicks earning his first win of the season. Matt Bardley earned his first save of the year with his two innings of relief.

Belmont Abbey will host Lee tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at 3 PM at Abbey Yard.
