GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 13 Belmont Abbey baseball team completed the series sweep of the Limestone Saints with a 10-3 victory Saturday. The Crusaders tallied 12 hits, five home runs, and three doubles in the finale as they improve their record to 24-5 with 12-3 in Conference Carolinas action. The Saints move to 11-5 on the year with a 3-6 conference record.

Four Crusaders tallied multi-hit performances with three driving in multiple runs as well. Josh Genthe, Luke Cureton, Nick Beinlich, Kevin Elefante, and Jakob Rolly all went deep in the game adding to the Crusaders nation-leading run and hit total.

Genthe's two-run homer came in the second inning, Cureton's RBI ground ball in the third gave The Abbey a 3-0 lead. Limestone scored in the third to cut the lead to 3-1 but back-to-back home runs by Elefante and Rolly in the fourth set the Crusaders on an offensive tear.  Beinlich homered in the fifth and Genthe lofted a sac fly to give the Crusaders the 7-1 advantage.

Limestone pushed two runs across in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-3, but Belmont Abbey closed the door with a sac fly from Beinlich and a long ball from Cureton.

Abbey starter Blake Waldren went 4.1 innings allowing one run on six hits, no walks with four strikeouts. Drew Goodman collected the win in his two innings of relief.

The Crusaders will host Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday, March 20 at 5 p.m.
