Cureton and Thompson Earn Conference Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Luke Cureton and Jeff Thompson both received accolades from the Conference Carolinas office as they were both named Conference Carolinas Players of The Week for the week of Feb. 19-25.

Belmont Abbey posted a 5-0 record on the week beating Wingate, Francis Marion, and conference opponent Southern Wesleyan. The Crusaders are currently in a 10 game winning streak.

The senior left-fielder, Cureton, hit .571 in the five wins racking up 12 hits, five doubles, and a home run. The Indianapolis native also scored nine runs and drove in seven, stealing four bases. Cureton's five doubles leads the conference.

The senior left-handed pitcher, Thompson, tossed a complete game shutout allowing just two hits against Southern Wesleyan. The Cameron, N.C. native stuck out eight batters in the 3-0 win.
