Baseball Rolls Past Brevard, 14-6 For Third-Straight Win

The Belmont Abbey baseball team slugged 15 hits as it scored 14 runs to earn a 14-6 win at Brevard this afternoon. Belmont Abbey's winning streak increases to three as the Crusaders are now 14-9. Brevard falls to 12-14.

Belmont Abbey jumped ahead 7-0 after three innings, plating four in the second inning on Colin Rosenbaum's grand slam.

In the third, the Crusaders lead surged to 7-0 as Nick Nunziato clubbed a two RBI single, followed by another from Levi Wright.

Brevard pulled one back in the fourth inning but the Crusaders answered with three in sixth, two on wild pitches and another on a passed ball to widen the lead to 10-1.

That was all of the scoring until the eighth. Then, Kayden Krause smacked an RBI double to left, scoring Tommy Hunn. Drew Sipp followed with a single that chased home Armen Calilao.

Brevard scored five runs in the eighth on two homers, but the Crusaders closed the scoring with two in the ninth, on RBI singles from Calilao and Kyle Craig. Craig recorded his first career RBI as his hit scored Calilao.

Robert Taft moved his record to 1-1 as he allowed one run on five hits in six and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Kyle Pittman, the first of nine Brevard pitchers, allowed seven runs, six earned, on five hits in two innings.

The Crusaders rapped out 15 hits as Calilao, Krause, Sipp and Levi Wright all had two. Anthony Dimino extended his hitting streak to 23 games with a third inning single.
