April 27, 2013 Schmitz Becomes First Track & Field Athlete To Earn NCAA Provisional Qualifying Lucy Schmitz has had a good track season. She was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year for Indoor Track, including winning the Mile Championship. She has set school records in seven difference events between indoors and outdoors. She has qualified for the 5000m Run at the USA Under 19 Championships to be held in June in conjunction with the USA National Championships and this past weekend she became the first Belmont Abbey College Track Athlete to meet an NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifiying mark with her performance in the 10000m run at the Hillsdale College "Gina Relays". Her time of 36:34.24 met that standard (36:45.00). It also broke the school record of 46:26, set in 2011 by Elizabeth O'Malley. It was the first time she contested the event as well.... (more) April 13, 2013 Smith, Schmitz & Crisci Lead Women's Track & Field At Furman InvitationalLucy Schmitz, Bri Crisci, and Lauren Smith each earned School Records at the Furman University Invitational held Saturday in Greenville, SC. The Furman Invitational included 24 schools from South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina, with only the host, Furman, being a Division I Program, the remaining programs were Division II, Division III, NAIA, and Junior Colleges.... (more) April 6, 2013 Women's Track & Field Continues To Re-Write Record BookLucy Schmitz finished sixth overall at the Duke University Invitational 3000m Run on Friday evening with a time of 10:11.37 to break the previous outdoor record by nearly 70 seconds.
