Smith Announces Hiring of Three Athletic Trainers

BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey has hired three new athletic trainers to its departmental staff, Head Athletic Trainer Adam Smith announced today. Each of the newcomers began his or her duties on August 1.

Christa Hendrickson comes to the Abbey after spending two years as a graduate assistant at Troy University. During her time at the school, she worked with the cross country and track & field programs while earning her master's degree in kinesiology. Hendrickson earned her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Franklin College in 2015.

Katie Malatestinic holds degrees from UNC Greensboro (M.S. in Athletic Training) and East Carolina (B.S. in Health Fitness Specialist). During her graduate program, she was assigned clinical experiences with the Spartans' women's soccer and baseball programs as well as Guilford Football and the club sports programs at Elon.

Connor Yorkey finished his master's degree at the University of South Florida in May, gaining experience with St. Leo, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Rowdies over the last two years. He also holds a B.S. degree in kinesiology from the University of Kentucky.
